Look at the flower.

Description

I always have a story in my head for every picture I make.
But with this one I had two:

Either this is a destroyed city and one of the last humans (that aren´t very human anymore) is seeing the last flower that is left and that soon will die like everything else...

...or it is an old destroyed city and this is the first human (that aren´t very human anymore) returning to find there is still hope left. A new flower is growing!

Well, it is up to you!

This piece really captures that post-apocalyptic feeling. The sky's color gives you the feeling of an unwelcoming atmosphere, while the colors of the buildings not only provide a nice contrast, but also make them come off as looming, empty monuments rather than lively homes.

The composition is also nicely done. Your eyes are lead across the picture through several points of interest. The only thing I would change here is perhaps to move the flower a little bit up and left to where there's now an empty white space. I find that my eyes would rather focus on that spot, and it's in line with the curve that my eyes follow as I'm watching the scene.

When it comes to the drawing style of this picture, I think this kind of "flat" drawing style works really well here. It gives the whole piece a more stylized look, while there is still a sense of depth in it. I think this piece would be at its best as a big poster. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile) - :)"/>

My favorite part of this picture is the "human". The suit and its accessories tell a story of someone who needs to put survival first. The pose certainly adds a touch of a wild animal to this character, and the fact that you cannot see the eyes strengthens the "inhuman" feeling in it.

My own personal interpretation from looking at this scene was of a future version of a human or possibly a humanoid alien who has grown up in this post-apocalyptic world of mostly concrete blocks and metal objects. Now, seeing a flower for the first time, he/she stops to stare at it in shock, not knowing whether to be terrified or amazed.
